What to Expect:
Step into the world of interactive electronics with Arduino – an open-source prototyping platform used by artists, designers, engineers, and hobbyists around the world. With its flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software, Arduino allows you to build devices that sense, react, and interact with the world around you.
In this hands-on workshop, participants will design and test their own basic programs using motors, sensors, wires, and microcontrollers, while learning essential coding concepts in a fun and supportive environment.
No experience needed – just curiosity and a willingness to create!
What Students Learn:
- Understand what an Arduino is and learn how its hardware and software components work together
- Learn how to safely set up and use Arduino at home
- Write and upload code using MBlock, an easy block-based programming language similar to Scratch
- Experiment with a wide range of components, including LEDs, sensors, buttons, motors, and more
- Prototype their own interactive mini projects
- Use their programmed Arduino to control simple games made in Scratch and MakeCode Arcade
This is a practical, exploratory session designed to build confidence with the fundamentals of physical computing.
What You’ll Need
Laptops will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own. If you have your own Arduino, feel free to bring it along.
Students who don't have an Arduino Kit already, will receive a basic Arduino Kit so they can continue their Arduino journey at home (must purchase $70 ticket).
Who is this Workshop for?
Perfect for beginners, young makers, and anyone interested in coding, robotics, engineering, design, or electronics.
If you’ve wanted to try Arduino but felt overwhelmed by wires, errors, or tricky setups, this workshop will give you the confidence and foundational skills to get started - properly and safely.
